5. Mix it up
Variety is the spice of life—and the same is true of exercise. Doing something different every day does more than keep things interesting; it prevents injury and leads to better results.
Those just getting started can create variety by beginning with 10-15 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (like walking or running) a few times a week. Shoot for a long-term goal of 30 minutes per session, but allow yourself as much time as you need to get there. On the off days, give your heart a rest and focus on building muscle with weights comfortable enough to lift at least 8-10 times in a row.
Open to group exercise? Try a spin class one day and yoga the next; you’ll work different muscle groups, provide rest to the areas of your body that need it, and ensure your body continues adapting. Explore the full list of class offerings here.
